Frequently Asked Questions

IS MASSAGE FOR ME?

Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) are health professionals trained in the assessment and treatment of soft tissues. Massage therapists registered with the Massage Therapists Association of Alberta have received at least 2200 hours of training, passed comprehensive practical and written exams, adhere to the Regulated Health Professionals Act, and maintain liability insurance.

At Nunyara Massage & Wellness our therapeutic goals for massage therapy include relieving pain, improving range of motion, and increasing physical function. Massage therapy is also used as a relaxation tool in our clinic, and can help relieve common physical ailments caused by stress including headaches, muscle tension, neck and back pain.

Whether you are looking to relieve tension with a relaxing massage, are in the need for therapeutic soft-tissue release, or are unsure what form of therapy is best suited to your needs, we can help.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST TREATMENT?

Please arrive for your first appointment approx 10-15min early. You don’t need to bring anything special to your visit. If this is your first massage with us we will ask you to fill out an intake form online prior to your appointment.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST SESSION?

Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Sometimes with massage therapy the soft tissue can feel sore/tender the next few days before feeling better. Since the lymphatic and circulatory systems are stimulated during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage.
